More updatesVetico is growing rapidly. For a number of years now, the parent company to the five Vetipak branches in Oss and Veghel and ECM Europe in Gemert has grown steadily in terms of sales and size. This development is set to continue with new premises for “subsidiaries” Vetipak Veghel and ECM Europe. Both companies are to relocate to premises that are roughly twice as large.
“Two years ago, we formulated a BHAG: a Big Hairy and Audacious Goal”, says Mark van der Burgt, CCO at Vetico. “It’s a bold goal that aligns with our ambition to build a future-proof company. We took a significant first step in 2023 with the acquisition of ECM Europe. The construction of the two new sites for Vetipak Veghel and ECM are the next two steps. And… we’re working on yet another new site. I should be able to tell you more about that soon.”
For more than 25 years, Vetipak Veghel has been the strategic partner to a well-known chocolate manufacturer from the same place. The two parties will continue to intensify their collaborations from larger premises. “We are relocating to a brand new factory in the Doornhoek industrial estate, about 300 meters away”, continues Van der Burgt. “With a new 10-year contract providing the foundation, we will soon have more than 19,000 square meters in which to continue automating, increasing our sustainability, and growing together.”
Vetipak and the chocolate manufacturer won’t have to wait too much longer for that. Van der Burgt: “Towards the end of this year, we will be getting early access. We will then modify the premises to turn it into a real factory, and prepare it for packaging food products. At that time, we will also relocate the existing lines and build a new one. This will make us the preferred supplier for our client, with a less complex chain and more economies of scale. This strategy will give them greater flexibility and scalability, and we will benefit from continuity as a result. The plant should be operating at full capacity by the second quarter of 2025. Just in time for the new Christmas chocolate season.”
A little later in 2025, the new ECM Europe premises will be opening in Gemert. Once again, the movers won’t have far to travel: the new building is going to be right across the street. “With our employees in mind, we started looking for a new site close by”, says Vetico’s CCO. “We’re very happy that we succeeded, both for all the ECM people, who won’t have to travel any further, and for the company as well, since we will retain all of their knowledge and expertise.”
“The new factory will have not just one clean room, but two or three, plus all the space we need to automate our processes”, continues Van der Burgt. “These preconditions will enable us to realize our growth plans. ECM’s sales have already nearly doubled recently, and we would like to repeat that performance. Once we also have the MDR (Medical Device Regulation) certificate, which we expect soon, we will be ready for the future in both Veghel and Gemert. Not only for our employees and clients, but for society as well, with our sustainable construction techniques and numerous new technological gadgets aimed at keeping our carbon footprint as small as possible.”
