It has been prominently marked on our calendar for quite some time: Interpack. This major international trade fair will take place from May 7 through May 13 in Düsseldorf. For us, Interpack is the event to showcase our solutions and innovations to the world. And there’s a premiere! Business developer Rudy van den Elzen explains.

Rudy, what can you tell us about Interpack?

“Interpack is the leading trade fair in the packaging industry for manufacturers of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). Every three years, companies from all over the world present their materials, machines, solutions, and innovations. Just as important: visitors from more than 150 countries come here to discover new opportunities for their businesses.”

But… why are we, as a co-packer, exhibiting at a trade show for packaging materials and machinery?

“We position ourselves as a one-stop co-packing partner. We advise across the entire process — from initial design to material sourcing. And if a machine isn’t available on the market? Then we develop it ourselves in our Innovation Center. That’s also how we’re known in the market: as a partner that dares to go beyond the beaten path.”

How do we bring that to life at the trade show?

“We showcase what we’re capable of. For example, through video presentations, but also by displaying unique products, such as the conical Flip packaging. We designed the associated production line ourselves, integrating Omron Viper robots. Very much the Vetico way: highly innovative and just a bit unconventional. That’s how we make unexpected things possible. With that innovative drive, we want to inspire visitors at the trade show. And of course, there’s the FMP 80!”

What makes the FMP 80 so unique?

“This is a machine where many elements come together. The FMP 80 combines high speed with exceptional flexibility and material innovation. Think of up to 200 pouches per minute, as well as fast format changeovers. That makes it suitable for a wide range of products and packaging formats. What’s particularly interesting is that it allows us to switch much faster and more efficiently for our customers. And that’s exactly what the market is asking for.”

You also mentioned material innovation. What will visitors see in that regard?

“That’s probably the most interesting part. We show that with this machine, you can produce fully recyclable packaging without compromising on quality or appearance. For example, using mono-materials that still provide the right barrier properties and look. That’s where the market is heading. For visitors, it’s great to see that this is no longer something for the future — it’s already possible today.”

What do you expect from the interaction with visitors?

“At a trade show, you rarely close deals on the spot. It’s mainly about conversation. The event is a great opportunity to reconnect with existing customers and explore what more we can do for them. We show potential clients that our innovative scope is virtually unlimited — we can think along with them on any challenge.”

And after all those conversations?

“Even during the trade show, we map out all the leads. Who do we want to follow up with, and when? What’s great about Interpack is that visitors are often decision-makers. So it’s up to us to present a strong, consistent story, so that customers and prospects are eager to continue the conversation after the event.”

How many colleagues will be present in Düsseldorf?

“We’re heading there with a strong delegation: business developers, account managers, packaging technologists… And of course, our Innovation Center will also be represented. Most conversations will be exploratory, but if interested visitors want to dive deeper right away, we’re fully prepared.”

Will you have time to look around at the trade show yourselves?

Absolutely! This trade show is a great opportunity to see what’s happening in the market, how other companies present themselves, and what solutions are being developed worldwide. We’ll definitely gain new ideas and inspiration and broaden our knowledge. No matter how the event goes, we’re guaranteed to come back richer in insights.”

Interpack takes place in Düsseldorf from May 7 through May 13. The previous edition attracted around 150,000 visitors. This year, participants from 156 countries have registered. About a quarter of them are from Germany, while three quarters come from countries around the world.
